Shapewear Review of a Marks & Spencer Bodysuit:
As you may now all now, since having a baby, my body is not what it used to be. I have a ‘mummy pouch’, so I now carry fat in a pouch at the bottom of my stomach – it was never there before I fell pregnant! I am three stone heavier than pre-child and I breastfeed so my once-pert boobs are no more. I rely heavily upon shapewear to look good when I am going out.
I stumbled upon this when I was shopping in Marks & Spencer’s. It seemed a bit pricey at £27.50, or $42, but it promised to ‘flatten your tummy, shape your waist and smooth your hips’ so I thought that I would try it. I am a UK size 14 so that is the size I chose. It was really tight but as it was meant to help me look slimmer, it was comfortable enough once I had wriggled into it. The shapewear did do the job perfectly though and it really slimmed my stomach! It looked much smoother and firmer, and I felt more confident when I tried my clothes on over the top. The shapewear allows you to wear your own bra underneath so you don’t have to worry about your chest being misshapen or squashed. Due to how the shapewear fits, it does help to life your boobs too!
I decided to wear it when going a ‘date night’ with my husband. I wanted to feel attractive and I thought this would help. It isn’t attractive on its own but it definitely does the job. It sucked in my stomach and helped me to stop wobbling so that was a bonus. It meant I could wear a tighter dress and not feel like a whale. The shapewear also slims the tops of your thighs so I definitely felt fabulous.
Husband and I went out for a three course meal first of all. Despite the shapewear being extremely fitted, it was comfortable enough to eat all of my food without it feeling too tight – a definite bonus because I really love food. After our meal, we went to a local cocktail bar where we indulged in more than a few cocktails. At this point, I had been wearing the shapewear for about six hours and it was beginning to feel snug. It wasn’t uncomfortable but it was beginning to feel tight.
One of the good points of this Magicwear is that it fastens with poppers at the crotch. This makes it easy to use the bathroom as you aren’t having to roll it up and down constantly. The poppers are tiny however and after a couple of cocktails it becomes impossible to fasten the poppers without help. Luckily, my husband was on hand – although he didn’t appreciate that! By this time, the shapewear also began to be really warm because I was doubling the layers I was wearing. Luckily, it was a cool evening but I don’t think it would be practical for a hot day, or evening.
Personally, I don’t think it would be practical for a whole day event because it does begin to feel too tight but for an evening it is perfect. I will definitely wear this again though and whilst it doesn’t the size 6 that I would like to be, it definitely makes me feel confident and happier.
